First visits

What happens at my first visit?

We start by reviewing your health history and getting to know you before any treatment begins. Dr. Schneider checks your teeth, gums, and bite, then talks through what he finds and answers your questions. You’ll leave with a clear picture of your oral health and any next steps.

Will I see the same dentist and hygienist each time?

Yes. Our team has been together for years, so you see the same Alexandria dentist and hygienist at every visit instead of a rotating cast. That continuity means less repeating yourself and a provider who already knows your history.

I feel nervous about dental visits. How do you handle that?

You’re not alone, and we plan for it. We explain each step before we start, check in often, and never rush you through care. Many patients who used to put off the dentist tell us this office feels different.

Do you treat both children and adults?

Yes. We care for patients of every age in one place, from a child’s first cleaning to a grandparent’s implant. Keeping the whole family at one practice makes scheduling simpler and care more consistent.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you take. If a previous dentist has recent x-rays, ask them to send those along, too.

What insurance do you accept?

We participate with several major PPO plans, including Delta Dental Premier, Cigna, United Healthcare, and GEHA Connection Dental. Our team files your claims for you, so you get the most from your benefits without the paperwork.

What if I don't have dental insurance?

We accept cash, checks, and credit cards, and we’ll walk through the cost of any recommended treatment before we begin. You’ll always know what to expect, with no surprises after the fact.

Are consultations and second opinions really free?

Yes. If you bring your existing radiographs, consultations and second opinions are completely free. If you’d like new x-rays taken here, there’s a small fee for those.

Can I pay my bill online?

Yes. You can pay through our online patient portal anytime, from any device. Use the payment link on our website, or call the office if you’d like a hand with it.

What are Dr. Schneider's credentials?

Dr. Schneider has practiced general dentistry for decades and earned the Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry, the highest honor the academy gives. He’s a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, and he keeps up with continuing education to stay current.

What services do you offer?

We provide comprehensive care under one roof: general and preventive dentistry, cosmetic treatment, oral surgery, implants, and root canals. Because most care happens in-house, you rarely need a referral to an outside specialist.

Do you place dental implants in your office?

Yes. Dr. Schneider performs implant surgery right here, so most cases don’t require a separate specialist. You get the full process, from placement through restoration, with a provider you already know.

Do you see dental emergencies?

Yes. If you’re dealing with pain, swelling, or a broken tooth, call our office and we’ll do everything we can to see you as soon as possible. The sooner we hear from you, the more options we usually have.

Hours, location, and getting here

What are your office hours?

We’re open Monday through Wednesday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Thursday from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Fridays are by appointment only, so call ahead for availability.

Where are you located, and is parking easy?

You’ll find us at 2802 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306. Our free-standing building has plenty of on-site parking, so getting in and out is simple.

Does anyone on your team speak Spanish?

Yes. We work with patients primarily in English, and some members of our team speak Spanish to help you feel at home.
